Visitors to Chongming, Shanghai, can immerse themselves in a sensory journey of blooming flowers and rich coffee aromas at the 2025 Chongming Flower Festival and Coffee Culture Festival from March 22 to May 11.

Combining culture, tourism, commerce, sports, and exhibitions, the event offers a vibrant visual and cultural feast, inviting guests to explore the lush spring landscape, vast flower fields, and floral-infused coffee creations.

As the flower festival's main venue, Dongping National Forest Park will showcase five themed floral zones, featuring a stunning display of tulips, Chinese violet cress, cherry blossoms, and wisteria — the event's signature blooms.

Throughout the festival, visitors can take part in wild vegetable foraging, floral art workshops, garden explorations, gourmet markets, and pet interactions. They can also observe sika deer and peacock flights and engage in traditional cultural activities such as archery and lacquer fan painting.

The festival is a time-honored tradition marking the "birthday of flowers", symbols of rebirth and blessings. Guests are encouraged to wear hanfu and Tang-style attire, joining 12 elegantly dressed flower goddesses as they stroll through fragrant pathways, experiencing the timeless romance of ancient Chinese culture.

All 18 townships across Chongming will host their own themed celebrations, each showcasing local floral highlights. Signature events include the third Zhongxing Town Cherry Blossom Festival, the eighth Changxing Town Cultural Tourism Festival, and the Shuxin Town National Trend Spring Date Festival.

As spring unfolds, daffodils, cherry blossoms, roses, rapeseed flowers, and crabapple blossoms will bloom across the eco island, transforming it into a vivid floral paradise. Visitors can also take part in cycling, camping, cultural heritage exhibitions, food tastings, fruit picking, and art workshops for a diverse and engaging festival experience.

This year, the flower festival will also collaborate with local attractions, boutique hotels, and floral enterprises to offer exclusive cultural and leisure experiences, blending eco-tourism, commerce, and entertainment. Special discounts and promotional offers will further enrich the experience.

Extending the festivities, the coffee culture festival will take over in late April.

At the Buzhen town riverbank, visitors can explore a specialty coffee market, floral exhibitions, and riverside performances while enjoying themed coffee experiences.
